OVERVIEW
The aim of Mathematics during Stages 4 and 5 is to enable our students to be confident, creative users and communicators of Mathematics. It is a time to develop each student's understanding of, and fluency in, applying mathematical concepts to situations in their lives.
Our goal is to increase each student's enjoyment and appreciation of the subject as well as the recognition that Mathematics is an important aspect of lifelong learning.
A sound understanding of Mathematics is essential not only in the Mathematics curriculum, but also across a range of key learning areas and to adequately prepare each student for future study.
Throughout Stage 4 (Years 7 and 8) and Stage 5 (Years 9 and 10) students will study topics based on three strands.
- Number and Algebra
- Statistics and Probability
- Measurement and Geometry
